Star Wars: Unlimited's Twin Suns Multiplayer Mode Gets Full Support

When Star Wars: Unlimited launched, it introduced multiple playstyles, including the multiplayer format Twin Suns. However, with only a single set of cards available at launch, the format was limited to 50-card decks instead of the intended 80. That changes on March 14 with the release of Jump to Lightspeed, the game's fourth full set, which finally expands the card pool enough to fully support Twin Suns as originally envisioned.

"It feels like we do kind of have a full foundation," said Schaefer, one of the game's developers. "We have enough of a card pool, enough diversity and reach [...] that we really are at the point where we can make that change."

How Twin Suns Works

In the standard Star Wars: Unlimited format, Premier, players build decks around a leader card and a base card, ensuring that the deck's Aspects (colors) match the leader's. Twin Suns follows similar rules but with a twist—it requires two leaders instead of one. These leaders must share either Heroism- or Villainy-aligned Aspects but can create unique combos not possible in other formats.

Powerful Leader Combos in Twin Suns

  • Jabba the Hutt & Bossk: Jabba places bounties on enemy units, while Bossk gains bonuses for collecting them.
  • Grand Inquisitor & Qi'ra: The Grand Inquisitor damages his own units to allow them to attack again, while Qi'ra protects damaged units, creating a powerful synergy.

A Singleton Format with Expanded Possibilities

Like Magic: The Gathering's Commander format, Twin Suns is a singleton format, meaning decks can only contain one copy of each card (besides the required leaders and base). With a year's worth of expansions, players now have hundreds of cards to craft unique 80-card decks, opening the door for diverse strategies and creative playstyles.

With Jump to Lightspeed, Twin Suns is now fully operational, giving multiplayer fans the deep, strategic experience they've been waiting for.
